All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi will use a Customised bus to launch his campaign for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018.
The bus, also used for his campaign in Gujarat, is considered lucky by the top Congress leaders because of the party’s impressive performance during the recent Gujarat Polls. The bus arrived in the city a few days ago and is being guarded by policemen at Palace Grounds.
Gandhi is using a bus instead of a helicopter or an airplane for his campaign is because he would be able to connect directly with the masses. During his tour, he will hold small public meetings, street corner sabhas and visit important places that will fall on the route, a source said.
Bengaluru City Development Minister K.J. George has been given the task of getting the Rahul Gandhi customised bus, which already has a small meeting hall and toilet, modified. It is fitted with cameras and a public address system.
Mr. Gandhi will visit the State for three days from February 10. He will address a Scheduled Tribes’ rally in Hosapete on February 10 and attend a farmers’ meeting in Chickballapur and a students’ meeting in Mysuru on February 11. On February 12, he will address a Congress rally in Bengaluru.
