Congress appoints 70-member campaign committee for Karnataka elections

Congress president Rahul Gandhi approved a 70-member campaign committee headed by Karnataka power minister DK Shivakumar for the upcoming Karnataka Elections 2018, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parmeshwara said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will also be a member of the committee which includes all top Congress leaders of the state. Former minister Ambarish, former MP Ramya, MLA, Jayamala, Malashree, Sadukkokila, Bhissa and Shashikumar and the leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha, M Mallikarjun Kharge is also a member of the committee.

The committee will have all former Union ministers from the state, former PCC presidents, all chiefs of the party’s frontal organizations, all AICC office-bearers and all members of both Houses of Parliament as members.

The campaign committee for the Karnataka Elections comprises of MLA KN Rajanna, Abhayachandra Jain, Shivaraj Tantagi, Baburao Chinchansur, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Anil Lad, Vice President of the Communist Party of India, Ibrahim, V.S. Ugrappa, Ivan D’Souza, PR Ramesh, Rizwan Arshad, Raghu Achar, MD and the leaders of the party, including Laxminarayan, Sharanapatnam, Vijay Singh and Jabar Khan, along with the former Union Minister, former KPCC president, front-line unit, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members.

The tenure of the Karnataka Assembly ends in May 2018 and the state is expected to go to polls around April.
